The Secretary to Delta State Government, Dr Kingley Emu, the immediate past Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Edwin Uzor and the Senior Policy Adviser to Governor Oborevwori, Rt. Hon. Funkekeme Solomon have commiserated with a stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Godwill Obielum, over the passing of his mother, Mrs Victoria Ossai Obielum.

While Dr Emu and Chief Uzor, accompanied by some politicians visited earlier, Hon. Solomon paid his condolence visit on Wednesday evening at the residence of Chief Obielum at Asaba, Delta State.

Emu who spoke on behalf of Uzor and others, expressed grief over the loss and prayed for God to grant Chief Obielum and his siblings the fortitude to bear the loss.

According to Emu, “we received the news of the passage of your mother who died at the age of 87.

“We are here to express our sincere condolences and to assure you that right from the day that the sad event occurred that we have you in our prayers and we will continue to pray for you and members of your family because, we are aware that it is very painful to lose a dear one, especially, a mother.”

Also, Hon. Solomon, stated that as a Christian, no one can question the will of God when it comes to death, asserting, “it is only God that knows why He called her home at this time and we take solace in the fact that as a son, you made her proud and you have made your mark in politics and other human endeavors as a person.

“Be rest assured Sir, that we will always have you in our thoughts, our prayers as you prepare to bid her farewell.”

Responding, Chief Obielum thanked the SSG and the politicians for the visits saying, “the condolence visits, the phone calls and text messages have really strengthened us and we believe that by the grace of God, we are coping with the situation that the family has found itself in.

“Thank you and may God continue to bless you all.”

Though, no date has been announced for the burial ceremony, Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, among other dignitaries have paid condolence visits to Chief Obielum.
