FOR Nigeria to be great again, a Catholic Priest, Rev. Fr. Innocent Chikamagwa, has called on the people to avoid engaging in actions for selfish reasons rather than for collective good.

Fr. Chikajagwa, noted that corruption has eaten deep into the system, that most Nigerians engage in actions for selfish reasons rather than working selflessly for the people.

The Priest spoke on Sunday morning while delivering a Homily at the Catholic Church of the Ascension, Asaba, Delta State.

According to him, Nigeria can be better when the people think more and work for collective good, adding that the people should accept God as their Father and look up to Him rather than place their trust in man,

“When your flesh controls you, you lose a lot; we have walked away from the light of God because our attention is no longer in God but in acqusition of wealth.

“Who can answer the question, who are you? Through originality you will discover yourself and it will make you to live a good life.

“In the days of your trial, in the days of your travail, who do you go to? Jesus prayed unto God, because He knew there is something more in God the Father; He did not run to His mother, He did not cry to His disciples, He cried to God, the Father.

“We have every privilege to live a holy life; the sustaining grace comes only from above, that is why Jesus looked up to God and cried on to Him; challenges are just for a while, go back to God and rediscover yourself.

“The way to glory is to check yourself, you have to live the life of a believer; every believer has a soul and it is important for us to live a life in the spirit to overcome the physical, the flesh.

“Don’t allow your flesh to have more power than the spirit; when you live in the spirit, no matter the situation, you can manage it.

“Again, you have to serve God; it is important that you go to Mass, don’t create excuses for you not to go to Mass.

“Everyone in life has a gift, that you discover your gift should be to the glory of God; as a believer, have you lived your life as a believer? Have you decided to have stronger connection with God?

“Look up to God, rather than man; man will fail you, but God will not fail you. He is the only way, the truth and life; if we go to Christ, He will show us the way.

“Let us go back to God and remain with Him by serving Him through our actions.”

The Holy Mass which was celebrated by Fr. Chikamagwa and Rev. Fr. Hilary Ibegbulem, featured special thanksgiving, presentation of the new executive of the Catholic Youth Organisation of Nigeria (CYON), among others.
