AS the Lenten season enters its fourth week, Christians have been urged to live in the light of God rather than dwelling in the darkness of sin.
Rev. Fr. Hilary Ibegbulem, made the call on Sunday morning while delivering a Homily at the Catholic Church of the Ascension, Asaba, Delta State.
“The 4th Sunday of Lent was an appropriate day for Christians to search their conscience and ask themselves how far they have observed the Lenten season,” Fr. Ibegbulem said
He rhetorically asked, “have you been regular at the Holy Mass? Have you attended Stations of the Cross regularly? How much have you engaged in prayers, fasting and almsgiving which are the three pillars of Lent?
“God is rich in mercy that each time we confess our sins sincerely, we are sure of His mercy.
“God’s love and mercy cannot be found anywhere; even when you sin against Him, He will say, ‘seek my face and I will give you rest.’
“How close are we to Him for us to have a taste of His mercy?
“How have we enjoyed His mercy by going to confession?
“Remember the saying, ‘For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish. ‘
“What is our response to the love and mercy of God?
“We should return to Him and seek His face.
“We should live in the light of Christ rather than dwelling in the darkness of sin and evil.
“We must live in the light of Christ by doing things people should be proud of, not things that we will be doing in hiding.
“Seek the face of God, return to God and remain with God so that you will live a happier life.”
