As Nigerians celebrate the 63rd independence anniversary of the country, a Catholic Priest, Rev. Fr. Hilary Ibegbulem has called on the people to engage in actions that would encourage peaceful co-existence.

Delivering a Homily during the celebration of Holy Mass on Sunday morning at the Catholic Church of the Ascension, Asaba, Delta State, the Priest stated that Nigeria will be better as a nation when the people profess peace and engage in peaceful actions.

Lady Rita Egugbo, Ph.D, wife of Comrade Fidelis Egugbo, Senior Special Assistant, Media to the Governor of Delta State, also, had a birthday anniversary thanksgiving during the celebration of the Holy Mass.

“Today, also, the Catholic Church in Nigeria celebrates the Blessed Virgin Mary, our Lady, Patron Saint of Nigeria; so, it is a double celebration for us.

“Peace on our land, Nigeria is what we desire; today and always, we should reflect on peace, work for peace and promote peace wherever we find ourselves.

“Without peace, we cannot live together, so, avoid violence, avoid actions that will not promote peace because, without peace, there will be no development.

“If what you want to do or say will bring chaos, avoid it; wherever we find ourselves, let us promote peace.

“God bless our country, Nigeria, God bless you.”
