REV. Fr. Hilary Ibegbulem, has urged Christians to focus more on spirituality ahead of Christmas than investing on material things.
The Priest made the call on Sunday morning while delivering a Homily at the Catholic Church of the Ascension, Asaba, Delta State.
According to him, “this is the season of expectations and waiting; waiting for our Lord, Jesus Christ; a time to invite Jesus to come into our lives.
“It is advent; it is waiting for the coming of our Lord, Jesus Christ at Christmas; it requires more of spiritual preparation than material things.
“We should focus more on spiritual preparation than material preparation; prepare the way for Jesus to come into our lives.
“At Christmas, we do not only commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ, we welcome Jesus into our lives, that is the reason for advent; we should prepare ourselves for His coming.
“We should avoid distractions; we should know that at Christmas, Jesus Christ comes into our lives in spiritual ways, so, we should make all the crooked ways of our life straight.
“We should remove all obstacles restricting us from serving God; avoid anything that is not pleasing to God.
“Jesus Christ and sin cannot co-exist; our spiritual life should be smooth, steady.”
