REV. Fr. Victor Ijeh of the Catholic Church of the Ascension, Asaba, Delta State, has said that with love for one another, the world, especially, Nigeria as a nation would be a better place.

Delivering a sermon on Sunday morning at the Catholic Church of the Ascension, Asaba, Rev. Fr. Ijeh said, everything about God is love.

Ijeh observed that because God loved the world so much, He gave His son, Jesus Christ to die for the world, adding that due to the love Jesus also have for the world, He accepted a death on the cross.

“Our Lord said, ‘Love one another as I have loved you.’

“If we do what He has commanded us, we will be friends of Jesus, because, the greatest of the commandment is love.

“God gave us His only son that we can be set free from sin.

“He loves us so much and He wants us to love one another because, when we love, we will have forgiving heart, heart of sincerity and our country will be better.

“When we make sacrifice for one another, when we are sincere in what we do and when we obey the simple commandment of loving our neighbour as we love ourselves, our country will be better.

“A typical example of knowing who our neighbour is, is that of the Good Samarithan; we should love one another; love is not partial; if we love ourselves as Nigerians, we will not kill one another, we will not destroy one another’s property,.

“In periods of elections, let us not vote because of our relationship with those who are contesting or based on the bribe they have given us, let us vote for people who can serve selflessly and are qualified to hold elective positions.

“Let love guide us; love one another for love is of God.

“He who loves knows God but He who does not love his neighbour, does not know God.

“Jesus said, ‘Love one another as I have loved you.’

“Love is kind, it is not wickedness; love does not hate, love endures,” Fr. Ijeh said at the Holy Mass which also had the Priest in charge of the Parish, Revd. Fr. Hilary Ibegbulem in attendance.

The Holy Mass featured special thanksgiving including the Churching of baby Gianna by Mr and Mrs John-Paul Olua. Mr Olua is the Secretary, Church Wardens’ Association, Catholic Church of the Ascension Parish.
