AS Christians celebrate Christmas all over the world,  Rev. Fr.  Hilary Ibegbulem,  has called on them to use the occasion to imbibe the attitude of always putting smiles on the faces of people.

The Priest stated that if the people imbibe the attitude of assisting the needy, the joy of Christmas would be complete.

He spoke on Sunday morning while delivering a Homily at the Catholic Church of the Ascension,  Asaba,  Delta State.

According to him, Christmas is about giving selflessly,  adding that God is relying on those who have to share with the needy.

“At this Christmas,  we should put smiles on the faces of people; God expects us to do that.

“Having the desire,  the willingness to help and going as far as rendering that help wherever the help is needed even when no one called on us to help is required of us this season and always.

“The story of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary to Elizabeth is the second joyful mystery;  Mary is known for always having the desire to help and going further to help.

“Even at a wedding feast,  when she sensed that the celebrants had ran out of wine, she met Jesus and said, ‘they have no wine.’ This made Jesus to perform His first miracle.

“In the church, our help is needed in different areas; in the society, our help is always needed, let us be willing to render help.

“This Christmas,  we should not forget the needy, those who have no one to assist them, they rely on us to put smiles on their faces.

“We should know that the joy of Christmas is for everybody; let us bring smiles to people’s faces.”

The Holy Mass featured special thanksgiving by Ejimchi Peter Dumbili and others.

Fr. Ibegbulem was assisted at the Mass by Rev. Fr. Victor Ijeh.
