A Catholic Priest, Revd Fr. Andrew Mozia, has admonished Christians not to joke with prayers as God still answers prayers.
He gave the charge on Sunday morning in a Homily that he delivered during the celebration of Holy Mass at the Catholic Mass Center, Maris Schools, Amachai, Okpanam within the Delta State Capital Territory.
According to the Priest, Jesus Christ committedly prayed that His disciples had to beg Him to teach them how to pray.
He said, “We must not joke with our prayers; Abraham was negotiating with God because he sees God as his father.
‘No matter what you are going through, it is only prayer that can help you; the disciples were asking Jesus to teach them how to pray because, if Jesus who is the son of God find reasons to pray, we should find time to pray.
“We should commit what we are doing to God because, He still answers prayers.
“God answers prayers in His own ways; what you require is patience and believe that God is aware, surrounder yourself to Him and you will live a happy life.
“Prayer allows you to align your will with the will of God; Jesus said, ‘not my will but let your will be done.’
“The will of God is always the best; Jesus taught us the Lord’s Prayer for us to approach God in prayer; tell Him about your worries, perseverance in prayers open doors for you.
“So, we must learn to persevere.
“When you pray with faith, the Lord will hear your prayers; let prayer be part and parcel of you.
“Renew your personal prayer, renew your family prayer because if you fail to pray, you give the devil opportunity.
“Remember to pray for the elderly ones, call them them and show them love.”
The Holy Mass featured thanksgiving by parishioners.
