The Plateau Patriotic Front (PPF) has urged friends and political associates of the newly appointed Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, not to distract him from doing his job

This contained in a congratulatory message by the PPF a Socio-political group signed by its National Coordinator, Mr Mani Imman, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Abuja on Sunday.

Imman noted that the APC national chairman’s appointment was a reflection of his personal pedigree and accomplishment in his previous positions.

According to him, Yilwatda has emerged as the only minister of Humanitarian Affairs not scathed with scandal.

“However we implore the citizenry and the new national chairman to see the new appointment as one to win plaudits for the Plateau across the nation.

“Like all people on the Plateau, we see this appointment as one to use in promoting the Plateau spirit and where possible, the interests of the people of the state.

“While we congratulate the new chairman, we also use this opportunity to task him to help redirect the narrative among some people in Abuja as to the cause of the killings on the plateau.”

The PPF national coordinator urged the APC national chairman to help imbibe it on concerned authorities that the people on the Plateau were under attack by armed men and certainly not a case of communal violence as falsely narrated.

He called on supporters of the APC national chairman not to put unnecessary political pressure on him.

“We are, however, quick to caution fellow citizens on the plateau not to distract Prof. Yilwatda in his task of elevating the fortunes of the party across the nation.

“We dare charge friends and associates of Yilwatda not to drag him into unnecessary battles on the Plateau by using him to impose their own selfish will in the electoral direction of the state.

“They should not lure him into unnecessary confrontation with the political order on the plateau. Those who want APC tickets should not be used to distract him to circumvent the rules of the party or to even engage in unnecessary battles with the government and the people on the Plateau.

“Our prayer for him is that he should come out unscathed when he eventually leaves office and it should not be that his brothers and sisters on the Plateau caused him to fail,” he added.
