The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NorthSouth Security Limited, Charles Omordia, has commended the Maris Trust Council (MTC) for selecting a timely and critical topic for its 2026 Annual Public Service Lecture, aimed at addressing Nigeria’s growing security challenges.
The Maris Annual Public Service Lecture 2026 is scheduled to hold on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba, by 12:00 noon. The lecture will feature the former Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor (CFR), as the Keynote Speaker.
The theme of this year’s lecture is, “Insecurity: Bane of Nigeria’s Unity and Progress.”
Speaking ahead of the event, Omordia emphasized the fundamental role of security in national development.
“Security is the foundation of any meaningful development; when people live in fear and cannot move freely, economic growth, social interaction, and national progress are severely hindered,” he said.
Omordia noted that the chosen theme reflects a pressing national concern and commended the Maris Trust Council for consistently providing a platform for constructive dialogue.
He said, “we commend the Maris Trust Council for once again creating an avenue for Nigerians to engage on issues that affect us all; insecurity remains one of the most critical challenges facing our nation today.”
Omordia also expressed confidence in the choice of keynote speaker, saying, “we are particularly pleased that this important lecture will be delivered by General Lucky Irabor, a highly respected military leader with extensive experience in national security and strategic leadership.”
In a show of support for the initiative, NorthSouth Security Limited has volunteered to provide security personnel for the event at no cost.
“Although Government House is a highly secured venue, our personnel will be present to support and enhance the overall coordination and safety of the event,” he disclosed.
He further stressed the importance of collaboration between security agencies and the public, emphasizing that “this is the time for both security personnel and civilians to come together, exchange ideas, and collectively address the security challenges confronting our nation.”
Omordia also expressed appreciation to the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for hosting the event, saying, “we commend His Excellency for supporting this important initiative.
“Enhanced peace and security remain central to the MORE Agenda of his administration.”
He encouraged broad participation, asserting, “we anticipate a large turnout, as stakeholders from all sectors gather to collectively proffer solutions to our societal challenges, particularly in the area of security.”
