Port Harcourt, Rivers State-based soul music artiste, Jessie Dee, will perform at this year’s Maris Annual Public Service Lecture, Secretary of the Maris Trust Council, Comrade Fidelis Egugbo, has said.
Egugbo, in a statement made available to newsmen, disclosed that while it is a very serious lecture holding at a very solemn period in the Christian calendar (the Holy Week), Jessie Dee will be physically present to render soulful tunes to calm the nerves.
Known for hit tracks such as “The One,” “Someone,” and “Let Me Breathe,” Jessie Dee explores themes of love, identity, and self-expression, carving out a distinct voice that is both powerful and unforgettable.
Former Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Lucky Irabor, CFR, will deliver the Keynote Address at the lecture, which has the theme, “Insecurity: Bane of Nigeria’s Unity and Progress.”
The Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, will be the Distinguished Guest of Honour, while his predecessor in office, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, CON, is the Special Guest of Honour.
The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, Ph.D., will be the Guest of Honour at the lecture, which will have former Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Dele Ezeoba, as Chairman of the Occasion; Rear Admiral Mike Onah (Father of the Day); and Dame Princess Minnie Igbrude (Mother of the Day).
Sir Mike Ejiofor, former Director of the Department of State Services; Lady Rosemary Ogabu, former Controller of Corrections; Rev. Fr. John Konyeke of the Catholic Institute of West Africa; Hon. Warri Ovoke; and Prof. Hope Eghagha are discussants, while Prof. Kemi Emina will be the moderator.
The Maris Lecture holds every Wednesday of the Holy Week, and it was conceptualized to proffer solutions to the challenges of society.
