Kidnapped Wife Of Edo Forner Speaker Regains Freedom

WIFE of Rt. Hon. Zakawanu Garuba, former Speaker of Edo State, Haruna who was kidnapped on Saturday morning has been released.

Newsden sources revealed that Haruna was released on Saturday night after unspecified amount of money was paid as ransom to her abductors.

Haruna was in company of three of her children and an aged mother-in-law on their way to Auchi to prepare for the burial of her husband who died in Abuja when she was whisked away by the daredevil kidnappers at Kabba, Kogi State.

Before her released, the remains of the deceased had already been laid to rest according to Islamic rites.

Police Speak On Rumours Of Release Of Kidnapped Native Doctor, Akwa Okuko

Her late husband was a staunch member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and on hearing about the kidnap, Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki ordered the Police to ensure her immediate rescue.

Garuba was speaker of Edo State House of Assembly between 2007 and 2009.

He was also a member of the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) and died after a brief illness in the early hours of Saturday in Abuja.
