Nigeria firmly established its dominance in the regional landscape of adaptive sports, claiming the Para-Volleyball title at the maiden West Africa Zone A and B tournament with an emphatic performance culminating in a decisive final.

The Nigerian team showcased its superior experience and formidable skill set by sweeping rivals Ghana 3-0 in the championship decider, sealing their status as overall winners without dropping a single set throughout the competition.

The team cruised through the first set, taking it 25-10.

They followed this with an even more dominant display in the second, restricting Ghana to just six points in a 25-6 rout, before clinically concluding the match in the third set with a 25-16 victory.

This powerful final act was built upon a foundation of consistent excellence, highlighted by their earlier fixture against Niger Republic, which also ended in a commanding 3-0 win.

Nigeria dispatched Niger with set scores of 25-13, 25-20, and 25-22, reinforcing their position as the team to beat.

Officials Celebrate Commitment

Kayode Ladele, President of the Paravolley Federation of Nigeria (PFN), lauded the team’s success, stating the victory validates the federation’s dedication to developing the sport.

”You cannot challenge victory; victory is victory,” Ladele declared, expressing profound satisfaction not just with the win, but with the noticeable, steady growth demonstrated by the players.

Head Coach Priscilla Agara described the gold medal as a “massive one for Nigeria,” confirming the team’s elevated standing within the West African para-volleyball community.

She specifically thanked PFN President Ladele for consistently providing the team with necessary exposure through major international tournaments in recent seasons.

Attributing the success to the players’ resolve and effort, Coach Agara offered praise, stating they were the ones responsible for “bringing the gold home” through their dedication and discipline.
