“Born on June 29, 1958, Peter Nwaoboshi lived a life marked by resilience, courage and service.

“A lawyer by training and a politician by calling, he became Chairman of the PDP in Delta State and later represented Delta North Senatorial District in the Nigerian Senate from 2015 to 2023.

“He was a strong voice for the Anioma people and a formidable figure in Delta and indeed Nigerian politics.

“Strategic, determined and deeply committed, Nwaoboshi left enduring legislative footprints at the National Assembly.

“As Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us, there is a time for every purpose under heaven; his season of service was impactful and memorable.

“He stood firmly by his convictions, reminding us that leadership is measured not by comfort but by determination and dedication to the common good.

“His passing leaves a vacuum across Delta North and beyond. He was a mobilizer and bridge-builder. Though political differences arose at times, his courage and loyalty to the PDP and later the APC remained worthy of respect.

“To his beloved wife and children, your loss is profound; yet, Psalm 34:18 assures us that the Lord is close to the brokenhearted.

“As we offer our tributes tonight, we recall the words of 2 Timothy 4:7: ‘I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.’

“We have lost a bold and courageous politician. May his soul, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

“May perpetual light shine upon him,” the Governor stated.

Several dignitaries also paid glowing tributes, describing the late Nwaoboshi as a dogged politician who lived a fulfilled and impactful life.

In his tribute, the Commissioner for Finance and Chairman, Dean of Commissioners, Sir Fidelis Tilije, described Nwaoboshi as a trusted friend and consummate politician whose positive impact would never be forgotten.

Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Peace Building, Chief Edwin Uzor, noted that the late senator was a dogged fighter and a goal-getter who remained steadfast in the pursuit of his convictions.

He described him as a mentor and political father whose guidance shaped many careers.

In his remarks, the Chief Adviser to the Governor, Senator Ighoyota Amori, said the late Nwaoboshi was a thoroughbred politician.

He recalled serving alongside him at the Red Chamber of the National Assembly, where he said the deceased distinguished himself through courage, experience and strategic leadership.

The Obuzor of Ibusa, His Royal Majesty, Obi (Prof.) Louis Nwoboshi, in his tribute, said:
“Today, we gather not merely to remember a political leader, but to honour a life devoted to service, courage and unwavering commitment to the people.

“In times of uncertainty, he stood steady. In times of conflict, he chose dialogue. In times of doubt, he inspired confidence.

His vision was not limited to the present moment; it extended toward a stronger, fairer future for all.”

The tributes collectively painted a picture of a resilient leader, bridge-builder and statesman whose legacy of service will continue to resonate across Delta State and beyond.

Other dignitaries who paid glowing tributes, describing the late Nwaoboshi as a dogged politician who lived a fulfilled and impactful life.

The well-attended night of tribute was further marked by solemn song renditions and Bible reading in honour of the departed statesman.
