Nnamdi Kanu: Police Arrest IPOB Members In Abuja

SOME members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), have been arrested by the Nigeria in Abuja.

The IPOB members, who appeared at the Federal High Court in Jewish apparel, were arrested on Monday.

They were chanting slogans in support of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, demanding his freedom.

There was commotion at the court as the police tried to disperse members of the group.

The trial of Nnamdi Kanu, who reportedly jumped bail in 2017, is scheduled to continue today after he was arrested and extradited to Nigeria in June.

He was arrested in Kenya, East Africa, and re arraigned before Justice Binta Nyako who ordered that his remand in the custody of the Department of State Services, DSS.

It has also,  been reported that IPOB has blocked entrance and exit into and out of the commercial city of Onitsha and the industrial town of Nnewi.

According to sources, they want residents and visitors to stay at home in honour of Kanu.

Youths suspected to be members of IPOB made bonfire in most streets in Onitsha, while also forcing vehicles entering the city to return.

Video circulating on the social media showed that shops, markets and offices were locked in Onitsha, while streets are deserted.

In Nnewi, it was gathered that youths suspected to be IPOB members were smashing cars belonging motorists who attempted to enter into the city.

Nnamdi Kanu is facing charges of treasonable felony for his agitation for an independent Republic of Biafra.
