Delta State Governor, Rt Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has said that his administration is committed to supporting royal fathers in the state towards building peaceful and progressive communities.

Governor Oborevwori gave the assurance on Thursday while presenting Staff of Office to His Royal Majesty, Avwerotakpo Michael Eyareya (JP), King Eyareya II, the 16th Orovworere of Effurun-Otor Kingdom in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, noted that traditional institutions are vital partners in grassroots development which underscores his administration’s commitment to supporting royal fathers in building peaceful, progressive communities.

The Governor said; “this Kingdom’s strategic location enhances trade and connectivity, while untapped oil and gas reserves hold investment promise.

“With its vibrant culture, Effurun-Otor also offers opportunities for tourism, festivals and traditional arts. These assets position the kingdom as a model for sustainable development in Delta State.

Governor Oborevwori said; “I warmly congratulate Your Majesty on your ascension to this ancient and noble throne, following the legacy of the late King Duku II.

“Your emergence affirms a divine call to leadership and a vision to restore the kingdom’s glory, as captured in the inspiring declaration: ‘Effurun-Otor shall be great again.’

“To the good people of Effurun-Otor Kingdom, I commend your peaceful disposition and pledge of loyalty to my administration; your support strengthens our resolve to deliver on the M.O.R.E Agenda.

“I urge you to rally behind His Royal Majesty, King Eyareya II and work together to unlock the economic potentials of this kingdom through agriculture, trade, tourism and sustainable resource management.”

Chairman, Ughelli South Local Government Area, Dr. Lucky Avweromre, urged the people of Effurun-Otor Kingdom to continue in the stead of peaceful disposition, which is a vital panacea for development.

Earlier, in an address read on behalf of Effurun-Otor Kingdom, Chief Jonathan Duku, commended the Governor for the implementation of the M.O.R.E Agenda which has brought smiles to the faces of all Deltans.

Chief Duku expressed the Kingdom’s appreciation to the State government for the construction and completion of the Effurun-Otor/Ovwor Bridge which links Effurun-Otor Kingdom to Olomu Kingdom.
