The Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has described a former Head of Service, Sir Okey Ofili, as a role model to a lot of persons.
Represented by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, Governor Oborevwori spoke at the 70th birthday anniversary celebration organized in honour of Sir Ofili in Asaba.
According to him, “our former Head of Service, Sir Ofili has always been a role model to a lot of persons; he is very respectful, very humble.and result-oriented.
“Sir Ofili is a model when it comes to peace building and conflict resolution and he is still being consulted on a lot of issues.
“As you celebrate 70th birthday anniversary Sir Okey Ofili, we pray that we will celebrate several more years of your birthday anniversaries.”
Earlier at a Thanksgiving Mass held at St. Brigid’s Catholic Church, Asaba, Rev. Fr. Peter Mobuogwu, Vicar-General, Catholic Diocese of Issele-Uku, urged christians to aways give thanks to God
“Seventy is a Biblical figure, it represent completeness , fullness and impact on the society.
“At seventy you need to put more to be able to give back what God has given to you, to relate to the young, old and the society.
“At seventy, you have seen it all, you will be able to give back to God, provide admonition, and counsel people.”
Sir Ofili at the occasion, thanked those who came to celebrate with him.
“From the bottom of my heart I thank His Lordship and all the Priests here assembled for this honour done to me .
“For all of you to turn out to celebrate this Thanksgiving Mass, God bless you all,” he said.
