“All your long hours on and off the track and fields have paid off!

“On behalf of the government and people of our great state, Delta: We are proud of you!

“#TeamDeltaStrong.”

Also, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Delta State, has congratulated Team Delta for successfully defending its champion’s title at the National Sports Festival, tagged “Edo 2020”.

The party’s position on the cheering news, in which Team Delta recorded an impressive total haul of 158 gold medals (and a total of 384 medals) at the 20th National sports competition, ahead of its closest rival Edo State with 129 gold medals (and a total of 341 medals), was conveyed in a Press Release signed by its State Publicity Secretary, Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza.

“By this overwhelming defence of its champion’s title, Team Delta has once again confirmed its superiority in sports in Nigeria.

“This is indeed a testimony of the support and encouragement given to sports development and sportsmen and women in the State, by our amiable and sports-loving Governor, His Excellency, Senator, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa.

“It is also important to note that Edo State, which shared a common bond with Delta State in the defunct Bendel State before being carved into different States, came second, further validating the sporting supremacy of both States.

“While congratulating Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for the total support extended to Team Delta that has confirmed the State’s pre-eminence in sports in the Country, PDP also congratulates Governor Godwin Obaseki and the good people of Edo State for the successful hosting of the National Sports fiesta,” Dr. Osuoza stated.

The PDP called on Deltans to come out in good numbers to give the winning Team Delta a resounding welcome from the championship.
