DELTA State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Mordi Ononye has doled out cash donations on loyalists of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oshimili South Local Government Area, giving opposition members sober reflections.
Dr. Ononye, who made the empowerment in his Ward (10), gave a total of N2m to men, women and youths, including physically challenged persons, who have remained steadfast to the growth and advancement of the party in the local government area.
Dr. Ononye said that the empowerment was to help cushion the effects of the harsh economic realities, which, he said, was induced by the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government.
He encouraged the party leadership in the ward to deepen their relationship with the constituents, even as he implored the constituents to get their Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) ahead of the general elections scheduled to hold in 2023.
Speaking at the event, the Oshimili South PDP Chairman, Ogbueshi Dada Okonji, commended the health commissioner for his generosity and encouragement to party stalwarts, even as he expressed strong optimism that the PDP will emerge victorious at all levels in the forthcoming elections.
While recalling that it was not the first time Dr. Ononye was embarking on similar empowerments, Okonji counseled the party members on the dangers of frolicking with the opposition, stressing that those who voted the APC in 2015 should deeply mourn the current economic predicament of the country.
Among others, who spoke at the Oshimili South Ward 10 PDP meeting include Barr Philip Nwokolo, Mrs. Philomena Okafor, Hon Eugene Chukwurah and Hon Tony Onyia, who also commended the commissioner for the cash gifts and empowerment, contending that the ward will remain committed to the PDP.
The beneficiary constituents, in separate interviews with our correspondent, expressed gratitude to Dr. Ononye for his benevolence, even as they pledged to remain committed to the party.
