The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, has charged Chairmen of Local Government Councils to work closely with Executive Secretaries of Primary Healthcare Development Agencies in their areas.
Sir Onyeme made the call on Tuesday in Asaba at the second quarter 2025 State Immunization Task Force.
The Deputy Governor who is the Chairman of the Task Force emphasized that no stone should be left unturned for effective healthcare delivery in the state, noting that effective health coverage requires good collaboration between the local government Chairmen and the health officials.
He called on the Executive Secretaries to ensure a no-hold-back discussion with the local government councils’ chairmen for the desired results to be achieved at all times.
While saying that the meeting addressed critical issues affecting Primary Healthcare operations, Onyeme noted that good relationship attracts benefits.
“There must be cordial relationship between Council Chairmen and Executive Secretaries, effective cooperation between all stakeholders is the only way that we can achieve our mission of ensuring a healthy Delta State,” the Deputy Governor said.
Earlier, the Executive Director, Primary Health Development Agency in Delta State, Dr Paul Yinkore, thanked local government councils’ chairmen in the state for their efforts which have yeilded positive results in the delivery of primary healthcare.
Some of those who spoke at the occasion including Chairman of Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Delta State, Hon. Isaiah Esionwa, the Chairman, Ndokwa West Local Government Council, Chief Obi Nzete, among others, commended the Deputy Governor for the quarterly meeting, noting that the meeting was necessary for the assessment of what they were doing at the grassroots levels.
