The serene Umutu Community in Ukwuani Loca Government Area of Delta State, bubbled on Sunday as the glittering City Base Hotel and Lounge officially opened its doors to the public in a star-studded ceremony graced by the Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA.

The launch marked a vibrant new chapter for the hospitality industry in the region, combining elegance with culture and entertainment.

The ceremony kicked-off with the cutting of the ceremonial tape to signal the official opening of the hotel by the Deputy Governor who was accompanied to the event by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Government House, Sir Christopher Osakwe and other government functionaries.

Sir Onyeme who was beaming with smile all through the event applauded the initiative as a timely investment in local development, tourism, and youth empowerment.

He praised the owner of the hotel, Mr. Christian Emegide,(Lush) for his vision, stating that such establishments contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic growth of Delta State.

The celebration moved from dignified to dynamic as the owner of the hotel, Mr. Emegide, a musician, took to the stage for a surprise performance of his new Afrobeats track titled “Onyeoma CY,”, drawing cheers from the crowd.

The energy soared even higher when talented guitarist Mr Kaycee Bright thrilled guests with a soulful live performance of his single, “Samiyeruwe,” while highlife crooner, State Orji Moore, popularly known as Ekwuosa King, rendered some of his popular tunes that included, “Jesu Na Bia Ozor, Makeme,” among others.

In an interview, Mr. Emegide, who introduced himself as “a proud son of the soil” and a family man, shared the inspiration behind the hotel project.

“My passion has always been rooted in creating space for relaxation, employment, and growth,” he said.

“City Base Hotel is not just a business, it is a platform to offer premium hospitality and provide job opportunities for our people.”

He also expressed deep appreciation to the Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, describing him as a long-time mentor and the key reason he chose to have him headline the opening ceremony.

Guests at the event couldn’t hide their delight as they shared thoughts on the facility’s ambiance and the promise it holds for the community.

“This is the kind of place we need around here, beautiful, secured, and vibrant,” said one guest.

“It’s a perfect spot for visitors and a chill zone for locals to unwind.”

The ceremony concluded on a high note, leaving attendees buzzing with excitement over what City Base Hotel and Lounge promises to become a luxury destination blending comfort, culture, and creativity in the heart of Ukwuani.

Some personalities seen at the event include the Chairman, Ukwuani Local Government Council, Hon. Possible Ajede, Hon. Azuka Enebeli, Commissioner, Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Hon. Alphonsus Ojo, among others.
