Delta State Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, Ph.D., on Monday, performed groundbreaking for the new Palace for Obi of Aboh kingdom, His Imperial Majesty Obi Dr Greg Oputa III.

The brief but colourful ceremony which was witnessed by government functionaries, traditional rulers and chiefs, took place at Aboh, Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State.

Sir Onyeme expressed joy the reign of Obi Oputa III is repositioning Aboh to take its pride as one oldest and respected Kingdoms in Africa.

“It is a great honor for me to perform this ceremony on behalf of the Government of Delta State, led by His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.

“This historic groundbreaking ceremony of the Palace of Obi of Aboh Kingdom is important because the Palace is a symbol of tradition, authority, unity, and the rich cultural heritage of the people.

“The construction of this palace represents the continued strength and dignity of the revered institution of the traditional ruler in Aboh Kingdom.

“The government recognizes the important role traditional institutions play in promoting peace, preserving culture, and supporting development in our communities.

“That is why we remain committed to working closely with our royal fathers and community leaders across Ndokwa East Local Government Area and the entire state.

“I commend the sons and daughters of Aboh Kingdom, as well as everyone who contributed to making this project possible.

“This Palace, when completed, will stand as a lasting legacy for generations to come.

“It is my prayer that this project will progress smoothly and be completed successfully, bringing pride and honor to the good people of Aboh Kingdom,” he said.

The Obi Of Aboh who took the Deputy Governor on tour of the site, thanked the Deputy Governor for performing the groundbreaking ceremony.

He noted that the project would receive all the commitment it deserves so that it would be completed in record time.
