The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, has charged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to prioritize unity and grassroots mobilization to ensure the party’s dominance in the state.

Addressing an expanded meeting of Delta North elders, leaders, and stakeholders of the party in Obiaruku, Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State on Saturday, Sir Onyeme emphasized that unity is the prerequisite for political success, referencing the party’s symbol.

“Truly, broom is the symbol of our party, and a bunch of broom is almost impossible to break compared to when one handles a broomstick, which re-emphasizes the need for us to remain united as Deltans in one political family, the APC.

”I commend our political leader and Governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for stabilizing our party through the practical delivery of democratic dividends.

“It is gladdening to note that most of us are fully registered members of the APC; for those who are yet to register, please strive to do so; there is no barrier to progress or participation in our party and we encourage the few Deltans who are yet to embrace our political party to join us for us to collectively, make progress.

“We want Delta State to be 100 percent APC, and with collective efforts, it is possible.

“In our last meeting, an implicit vote of confidence was passed on our President, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and our Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori; I commend you and all the different groups and individuals who have adopted them as the sole candidates of our party for the 2027 general election.

”It is worthy to state that these endorsements have spurred our President and our Governor to work even harder for our people; let us continue to encourage them by speaking well and making positive comments about our party at all times.

“We are all aware that without voter cards, we cannot exercise our constitutional right to cast our votes for candidates of our beloved party, the APC; therefore, let all of us ensure that we have our voter cards, encourage members of our families and friends to also register with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and protect the cards.

“Let us continue to engage in actions that will make our state peaceful for development to take place.”

Immediate past Governor of Delta State, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, at the meeting, expressed concern over the state’s low voter registration turnout and urged leaders to intensify efforts to encourage participation.

He called for unity, urging members to prioritize the party’s interests over personal ambitions.

“If you want to win elections, you must relate with everybody,” he said.

Chairman of APC in the state, Engr. Omeni Sobotie, emphasized party unity, describing politics as “a platform to make friends and build bridges, not war.

“God brought us together, and we will continue to cooperate as one united family.”

Also, the APC, Delta North Senatorial Chairman, Ogbueshi Adizue Eluaka, urged members of the party to return to their wards and actively participate in the ongoing e-registration of voters at the offices of Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

He stated, “we must work as one to drive the party forward.”

Some of the leaders of the party who spoke at the meeting included Engr. Emmanuel Eboh, Dr. Ann Izei, Chairmen of the party in different local government areas of the state, among others, expressed joy that more people have embraced the APC and that the party is recording successes in Delta North, entire Delta State and Nigeria in general.
