The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, Ph.D., has called on Deltans not to waver in their support for the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
He made the call on Sunday at the 60th birthday anniversary Thanksgiving Service for Hon. Francis Waive, the member representing Ughelli/Udu Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives.
The Deputy Governor stated that Governor Oborevwori is transforming Delta State and means well for the people.
”Prior to the election of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori as Governor, some persons believed that he would not do well, but three years down the line, he has proved those critics wrong; he has performed beyond expectations, taking development to places people thought had been forgotten, and transforming our cities.
”We should support him because if he could do so much within three years, imagine the level of development we will witness in the next five years.
”Our Governor has transformed Warri, but he is not done yet, he is still on duty, doing more for our people; so, let us continue to remember him in our prayers and support him to do more.
”Today, the member representing Ughelli/Udu Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Waive, is thanking God for the gift of life; it is good to give thanks to God, and we thank God for his life and enjoin him not to depart from his calling; God should remain number one in his life, and I know God will continue to shower His blessings upon him.
”Congratulations, Rev. Waive, all the stories being told about you are positive and I say, happy birthday to you,” the Deputy Governor said.
Delivering a sermon at the service, Bishop Kingsley Enakhireri called on the people to be selfless in serving God and to shun the acquisition of wealth at the expense of the people.
Rev. Waive, speaking at the occasion, said that it was natural for Deltans to support Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, disclosing that the occasion was to thank God for his 60th birthday anniversary and also to thank God for his emergence as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress at the just-concluded primary election for the House of Representatives.
The high point of the occasion was the cutting of the birthday cake.
