RESTIVENESS: Okeke Calls For Employment Of More Youths

THE Chairman and Chief Executive Officer GUO Group of Companies, Chief Sir. Godwin Okeke, has called on well-meaning Nigerians to strategize and design ways to transform the mind-sets of Nigerian youths through empowerment programes for them to be self-reliant.

Okeke, in a press briefing at his office in Onitsha, regretted that elders and government have not done enough for the Nigerian youths.

He maintained that the nation has not learnt her lesson from the recent ENDSARS saga emphasising the need to prioritized the needs of the youths for the economic growth of the country.

The elder etatesman decried a situation where the future of Nigerian youths are toyed with by some political leaders who use them as political thugs during elections suggested that they should be provided with better and permanent job instead of hiring them on contract basis which is detrimental to the country’s economy.

He maintained that private companies have their limitations in terms of providing employment for the teaming youths but the government has all it takes to get them engaged meaningfully while stressing that youths in Orientation camps should undergo skill acquisition training and empowered when they are out of camps.

On the lingering ASUU strike crisis, the Chief Executive called on government to put an end to the strike for the youths to go back to school in order to avert another protest and ease of tension.

He further stressed the need to encourage the youths to get registered into various political parties and vie for elective positions in the future rather than been used as political thugs.

Chief Okeke urged Traditional institutions and Town Union Executives to use this Christmas holidays and organise rallies for the youths in their various domains to educate them on how to fight for their rights as well as give them hope for tomorrow.
