The Delta State Post Primary Education Board (PPEB), has warned teachers who are yet to comply with the school resumption directives from the state government, without permission, that the State Government would not condone absenteeism but would rather sanction any teacher that violates the directive for them to resume on Monday, January 5.
In a statement released in Asaba, the State Capital, the Chairman of the Board , Prof. Emmanuel Tibi reminded teachers that all secondary schools in the state had resumed for the second term 2025/2026 academic activities.
Prof. Tibi, however, urged all relevant staff of the zonal offices and headquarters of the Board to ensure that they participated adequately in the ongoing monitoring exercise of school resumption.
He said that staff of the Board should take the monitoring seriously with a view to ascertaining the level of compliance by teachers.
Prof. Tibi described as unacceptable,
that four days after school resumption, some teachers were not at their duty posts, including those that did not seek for permission by their school heads to be absent from school for a specific time.
He commended the teachers who complied with the directives to resume school on the date of
resumption and expressed satisfaction with the commencement of classes in some of the schools he and his team visited.
The PPEB Chairman reminded teachers that their services were essential in building a sustainable society, adding that they should discharge their responsibility with utmost commitment for the overall benefits of the state.
Prof. Tibi said that the State Government under the leadership of the Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori had continued to demonstrate his administration’s commitment to the welfare of teachers in the State, and it is expected that teachers should do more for the success of the M.O.R.E AGENDA.
