The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Zone 5 Headquarters has commenced a three day special intervention Patrol codenamed “Operation Total Compliance” across the three states under its zone.

Ebomwonyi explained that the operation was being conducted in response to the increasing incidences of overloading (mixed loading), use of fake, obscured, or non-compliant number plates, and operation of commercial vehicles without functional Speed Limiting Devices (SLDs).

Other incidences she said include driving under the Influence of alcohol/drugs and driving without valid driver’s licences.

According to her, these violations have contributed significantly to road traffic crashes and pose serious risks to public safety.

“The primary mission is to identify, apprehend, and prosecute offenders while enhancing road safety, improving security, and reducing traffic infractions within zone 5.

“The operation will run from Monday till Wednesday, and will be implemented through coordinated patrols, mobile court prosecution, public enlightenment campaigns and media engagement across all operational corridors in the three states.

“Enforcement efforts will focus on but not limited to overloading (mixed loading), speed limiting device violations, driver’s licence violations, fake, obscured, non-compliant number plates, and other traffic violations observed during enforcement.”

The PRO also said that the operation would be intelligence-driven, with simultaneous deployment across all sector commands.

“Patrol teams are expected to maintain high visibility, inspect vehicles, verify driver documentation, prosecute offenders, and conduct all enforcement activities with professionalism, discipline, and courtesy.

“Recovery vehicles and ambulances are to remain on standby, while security support will be coordinated with other sister agencies such as the Nigerian Military, Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Department of State Services (DSS).

“All the motoring public are expected to cooperate with all personnel for seamless exercise as unruly behavior towards our personnel discharging their lawful duties will not be tolerated,” she added.
