CHAIRMAN of Ika South Local Government Area, Hon. Sunday Tatabuzogwu has called on Councilors in the Local Government Council to be peaceful and united.
The call was made on Wednesday when he met with the Legislators at Agbor.
The Council boss said that the aim of the meeting was to broker peace and not to recall the past, noting that nobody is perfect.
” I want you all to come together and bury the past. Forgive each other and forge ahead for the upliftment of the party and the good people of Ika South Local Government Area. This is the reason for this meeting,” he said.
Tatabuzogwu thanked the Honourable members for their co-operation so far and appealed to them to show exemplary conduct in the management of affairs of the Council by working as a closely knitted family imbued with patriotism and selfless services, stressing that they should be conscious of the fact that within the period they are in the Council, the future political history of the Local Government Area could either be made or marred.
He further advised that in both utterances and actions, they should refrain from anything that would tend towards frustrating the efforts being made to ensure stable and durable governance, while reminding them of the task ahead of delivering the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) at all levels in the 2023 general elections.
The Council Boss appealed to the Leader of the Legislative Arm to see that peace is restored in the house by lifting the suspension placed on some of the Councilors saying, “For the Councilors that are not here in the meeting, I urge you also to forgive and forget for the Local Government to move forward.
“To err is human, to forgive is divine.”
Tatabuzogwu stated that, Hon. Festus Chukwuyem Okoh (aka Chuky Dandy), the Honourable member representing Ika South in the Delta State House of Assembly is their leader and hence nobody should speak ill of him or any other leader in the Local Government Area.
“We must all stand by him to support and mobilize for him in the forthcoming election.
“PDP is one great family”.
Responding, the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Solomon Igudia thanked the Chairman for conveying the peace meeting, stating that there have been cordial relationship between the Executive and Legislative Arm of Government. He said that since they are from different backgrounds there is bound to be disagreement once in awhile, promising that they will put their house in order.
