President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday challenged the nation’s security architecture, calling for greater efficiency in strategies and results in the ongoing national fight against pervasive insecurity.
The demand was made during a high-level meeting with heads of intelligence agencies and service chiefs, held at the State House in Abuja. The President emphasized the urgent need for tangible outcomes to quell rising concerns over banditry, kidnapping, and insurgency across various parts of the country.
Speaking to State House correspondents after the critical session, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Olufemi Oluyede, described the interaction with the President as “highly engaging.”
“The President gave new direction and directives intended to achieve better results in the fight against all forms of insecurity,” General Oluyede confirmed, signaling a shift in operational focus and coordination among agencies.
General Oluyede further assured Nigerians that the security agencies are coordinating more effectively than ever before, with the immediate priority being the safety of citizens as the festive season approaches. He guaranteed that these strengthened efforts would ensure the public can celebrate the yuletide in peace and security.
