President Bola Tinubu has nominated the retired Gen. Christopher Musa, the former Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), to serve as the new Minister of Defence.

The nomination was conveyed in a letter from President Tinubu to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, as disclosed by Presidential Spokesman Bayo Onanuga on Tuesday in Abuja. Gen. Musa is set to succeed Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar, who resigned on Monday.

A Distinguished Career in Service

Gen. Musa is a highly decorated soldier whose tenure as Chief of Defence Staff lasted from 2023 until October. Notably, he was honored with the Colin Powell Award for Soldiering in 2012.
