A Police-led joint security operation has arrested two suspected members of a syndicate responsible for supplying food and logistics to a criminal gang operating in parts of Anambra State.

The suspects were apprehended in the early hours of December 11, 2025, following credible intelligence. The operation was carried out by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu, in collaboration with Agunechemba security personnel.

According to Police qsources, the arrested individuals were part of a network that provided essential supplies to a criminal group linked to secessionist activities, with camps reportedly located around Orsumoghu and Aguluezechukwu.

During the operation, security operatives recovered one Type 06 rifle loaded with ten rounds of live ammunition, two pump-action guns, and twenty additional live cartridges.

The suspects were identified as Mmadubuchi Ike, aged 28, and Chinonso Izunobi, aged 34.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects are allegedly connected to several serious crimes, including the murder of a youth leader popularly known as “Biggy” in Ukpor, as well as multiple kidnapping incidents across the State.

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, assured residents that investigations are ongoing to track down and arrest other members of the syndicate who are currently at large.

He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the State, particularly during the ongoing festive season.
