The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, has held a strategic meeting with the Area Commander and all Divisional Police Officers in Onitsha following a reported incident at the Head Bridge area on Tuesday, August 19, 2026.
The meeting, held Thursday at the Command Headquarters in Awka, was part of efforts to tighten operational supervision, enforce accountability and restore professionalism among personnel, especially in Onitsha, one of the state’s busiest commercial hubs.
CP Nnanna directed the DPOs to give detailed briefings on the security situation in their divisions and to outline steps being taken to curb misconduct and ensure officers adhere to policing standards.
He warned that any officer found abusing his office or acting in a manner that dents the image of the Nigeria Police Force will face disciplinary action in line with police regulations.
“The Force will not tolerate unprofessional conduct from any officer or group,” the CP stated. “We must not allow anyone to erode public trust and confidence in the Police.”
He further charged divisional heads to strengthen internal supervision, improve command and control, maintain high professional standards, and respond quickly to complaints from residents, traders and business owners.
Reassuring residents, CP Nnanna said the Command remains committed to community-oriented, effective and accountable policing to protect lives and property across Anambra.
He also urged members of the public to support security efforts by reporting concerns and complaints through official channels, including his dedicated WhatsApp line: 09169531886. He assured that all credible reports will be investigated promptly.
The meeting highlights the Anambra Police Command’s renewed push to boost public confidence, enforce discipline, and ensure policing across the state is carried out with professionalism and respect for the rule of law.
