The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, Ph.D., has said that the voting pattern of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was influenced by the economic reforms of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Sir Onyeme made the disclosure on Saturday morning shortly after voting in the Presidential primary election of the APC at his ward, Onicha-Ukwuani, Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State.
At the election, where the Deputy Governor stood as the agent for President Tinubu, the President polled 2,972 votes through the Option A4 pattern of voting.
According to the Deputy Governor, who was evidently happy with the result, “the President was voted for to enable him to complete the Lagos/Calabar Coastal road, to ensure continuous autonomy for local government councils, and out of a strong belief that he will entrench true federalism where states will control their resources and pay tax to the Federal Government.
”President Tinubu has no rival; his reform agenda is what has enabled us to keep working and making payments to contractors and workers as and when due.
”The empowerment programmes that our people are benefitting from, and the fact that his reform programmes are yielding results, are endearing him to the hearts of Nigerians.
”I thank our people for believing in our President, accepting his economic reforms, and asking him to be on duty till 2031.
”All of us are in support of President Tinubu; there was no dissenting voice, and I am very happy.”
Declaring the result, the Returning Officer for the ward, Mr Wilson Ogene, said President Bola Tinubu scored 2,973 votes in the ward.
