The Maris Trust Council (MTC), organizers of the Maris Annual Public Service Lecture series, has expressed its deepest condolences to renowned security expert and public affairs analyst, Sir Mike Ejiofor, and his family on the passing of his beloved mother, Ezigbo Nne Maria Ada-Olie Ejiofor.
In a statement issued on behalf of the Council by the Secretary, Comrade Fidelis Egugbo, on Saturday in Asaba, Delta State, the Council described the matriarch’s passing as a profound loss, but urged the family to find solace in the exemplary, God-fearing life she lived.
The statement reads in part, “we stand in solidarity with Sir Mike Ejiofor during this time of grief.
“Losing a mother is a deeply painful experience, regardless of her age, as mothers are the anchors of our homes.
“However, we take comfort in knowing that Mama lived a fulfilled life and left behind a legacy of love, discipline, and remarkable children who are contributing significantly to society.
”We recall vividly how Sir Ejiofor, despite losing his mother just a few weeks before the 2026 edition of the Maris Annual Public Service Lecture, commendably comported himself as a discussant, showing immense knowledge of the topic, ‘Insecurity: The Bane Of Nigeria’s Unity And Progress.’
”The former Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Lucky Irabor, was the Keynote Speaker at the lecture, which took place at the Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba. The event had the former Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Dele Ezeoba, as Chairman of the Occasion. Rear Admiral Mike Onah, OON, who was the Father of the Day, was represented by Gen. Mike Ndubisi, while Dame Princess Minnie Igbrude served as the Mother of the Day.
”It would be recalled that the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, was the Chief Guest of Honour at the lecture.
“Sir Ejiofor was a discussant alongside Lady Rosemary Ogabu, Rev. Father John Konyeke of the Catholic Institute of West Africa, Port Harcourt, Prof. Hope Eghagha of the University of Lagos, and Comrade Warri Ovoke, Chairman of the Isoko South Local Government Council. Prof. Kemi Emina, the OdiEga of Ebu Kingdom, served as the Moderator.
“It is worthy to note that the Maris Lecture holds every Wednesday of Holy Week (the Wednesday before Easter Sunday). By the grace of God, the next lecture will hold on Wednesday, March 24, 2027.
”The deceased was also, the mother of Chief Emmanuel Ejiofor, Ph D, former Deputy Chief of Staff to the Government of Delta State.
“A statement signed by Sir Mike Ejiofor said that their mother will begin her final journey on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, with a Vigil Mass at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Chaplaincy, Okwe, at 5 p.m.
“On Thursday, May 28, a Vigil Mass will be held at St. Charles Catholic Church, Ubulu-Uku, at 4 p.m and on Friday, May 29, at 11 a.m., a Requiem Mass will take place at St. Charles Catholic Church, Ubulu-Uku, in the Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State.”
The Council noted that while the final funeral rites mark a somber separation, they are also a celebration of a life well-spent in the service of humanity and God.
The Maris Trust Council prayed for the repose of her gentle soul and asked Almighty God to grant Sir Ejiofor, the entire Ejiofor family, and their loved ones the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
The Council also called on friends, associates, and well-wishers to support the family with their prayers and presence as they bid their matriarch a peaceful and glorious farewell.
