The motion was moved by the member representing Ika Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Victor  Nwokolo taking into cognizance the achievements of Governor Oborevwori particularly for embarking on five hundred road projects currently ongoing in various parts of the state, inspection of projects to ensure that government got value for money and for the prompt payment of salaries among others, which culminated in winning ThisDay /Arise TV Governor of the Year Award 2024.

The motion was seconded by the Majority Leader of the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Emeka Nwobi and was put to a voice vote by the State Deputy Governor, and it was adopted by the people.

Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme said all elected and appointed officials of the state government were ambassadors of the People’s Democratic Party, hence, they must project the policies and programmes of the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration.

He said that their election and appointment were platforms to serve humanity, the PDP and Delta State, noting that Delta North remained the bride of the party hence members should jealously guard the party and maintain its dominance.

Sir Onyeme urged them as leaders to be in touch with the grassroots and ensure that members are not dissuaded by the opposition parties that do not have anything to offer to the people rather than feed them with lies.

“Delta North should remain PDP dominant Senatorial District.

“We must consolidate our position as the main determinant for all elections in Delta State.

“As we draw close to the end of the second year of this present administration, our focus should be on doubling our efforts, we should always highlight and project all the good works of the government in everything we do and anywhere we are and at every occasion we are in because this administration has done so much for Deltans.”

The Deputy Governor also, advised Local Government Council Chairmen to properly connect with the grassroots by complimenting the Oborevwori’s More Agenda by embarking on projects that would add value to the lives of the people.

He told the PDP Leaders to embark on various forms of empowerment programmes and directed the PDP senatorial and local government Chairmen to ensure that they attended party activities and meetings.

Sir Onyeme emphasized the need for elected and appointed officials to always go to the wards and council areas and asked council chairmen to jettison the habit of staying in Asaba.

Others who spoke including the State Deputy Chairman of the PDP, Elder Moses Iduh, PDP Delta North Senatorial Chairman, Chief Dan Ossai, the member representing Ika Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Victor Nwokolo, Majority Leaders of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Emeka Nwaobi, Secretary to the State Government, Dr Kingsley Emu, Chairman of Oshimili North Council, Hon. Innocent Esewezie and the Chief Strategist to the State Government, Dr Festus Okubor among others.

They stressed also noted that Delta North will remain a stronghold of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and resolved that legal processes should be initiated to retrieve the Senatorial mandate of the PDP from Prince Ned Nwoko who has defected to All Progressives Congress (APC).

No fewer than five hundred persons attended the meeting which was held at the Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba, Delta State.
