RENOWNED Highlife crooner, Sir Deskenny, will be the star artiste at the burial ceremony of Deaconess Mary Egugbo (nee Anieh), mother of Comrade Fidelis Egugo, the Senior Special Assistant, Media, to the Governor of Delta State.

A statement signed by Elder Godwin Osadebe for the family and Comrade Fidelis Egugbo, for the children, revealed that the remains of Deaconess Egugbo would be interred on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Ugiliamai, Onicha-Ukwuani in Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State.

He said, “it was through Show Business that we know our elder brother, Fidelis as a Journalist.

“For several years, Fidelis was the Show Business Editor of The Pointer Newspapers which gave him early exposure to musicians, the music industry and organization of shows, so, when it comes to organization of events, bros would only say, ‘relax, we know what to do, all that is required is the means and God will always provide using good people that we have known over the years.’

“So for this burial of our mother, God is providing using good people and based on the festive season, the burial ceremony of Mama is really, a celebration of life well lived, and by the grace of God, we shall have three days of fun, yes, fun because, Mama was a jovial person, a jolly good fellow and from all indications, musicians shall play from the day of the Service of Songs cum Night of Tributes which is Friday 29 December to Sunday, 31st December both night and day, so, we are having more than 48 hours of non-stop festivity to celebrate the life of Mama and thank God for her life and Sir Deskenny is the star musician.

“Also, Ubulu look-alike, Chinedu Nwa Ejo, will be on the band stand to entertain people who are coming from far and near to identify with us.

“Apart from the fact that Chinedu Nwa Ejo, a young musician, described as Ubulu incarnate can render all the songs of Ubulu as if he is the original artiste, he also, has several albums to his credit and renowned for such hit tracks as Uke beyeni madu, Otuenya Nwannem and Oyiye Chukwu.

“Chiedu Nwa Ejo is billed to perform from the day of the Service of Songs/Night of Tributes, December 29 and will have a break for the Service of Songs to take place and thereafter, perform throughout the night while Sir Deskenny will perform on Saturday, December 30.

“Such songs as Kpekpele Ye Chukwu (pray to God), Jehovah Bu Eze (God is the King), Alusa, Chukwu Ma Onye Bu Onye, Onye Ojo Gbajego, Oyi Bu Chi Ogbei, Ashim Teshi Ni Ula, Ndu Onye Ije, Nwa Nne Bu Ikem, among other hit tracks are expected to be rendered by Sir Deskenny at the ceremony

“We thank God for the life Mama lived, we thank those who are supporting us in several ways, we thank the political class, the religious and we thank God for everything because, in all, He deserves all the praises.”
