THERE was a lavish display of wealth on Friday when a nightclub owner, Obi Iyiegbu, aka Obi Cubana, buried his mother.

The ceremony which took place in Oba, Anambra State, saw several celebrities, businessmen and politicians attending in large numbers.

Davido, D’banj and E-Money turned out to support the businessman.

More than 250 cows were slaughtered with assorted food laid out on tables, the burial was described, “as the burial of the year.”

Dangling from Cubana’s neck was a $100,000 diamond pendant and neck piece in honour of his late mother.

He said, “had to cut mama’s face on ice! @obisgallery came through.”

He confirmed in a video that he received 246 cows from his friends as gift  for the funeral, saying, “246 cows & counting. Who wan chop meat o.”

Forty-six of the cows came from his associate and celebrity bar man Pascal Chibuike Okechukwu a.k.a. Cubana Chief Priest.

The coffin which was said to cost N30 million was said to have been donated by another friend.

His committee of friends were also said to have raised well over N200 million to support him for the funeral.  In a list that went viral on social media which had 198 names, those who contributed include Mighty Mighty Umuchu (N1m),  Ekene New Age (N1m),  Sir Makuachukwu Okeifeadigo (N1m), Wale Cubana (N1m) and Igirigi Uli (N500,000).

Donations ranged from N100,000 to N5 million.

Madam Ezinne Uche Iyiegbu died last December at 78 years.

About Obi Cubana

Obi Iyiegbu popularly known as Obi Cubana is an entertainer, entrepreneur, and a philanthropist.

He was born on 12th April, 1975  and the chairman of the popular Cabana groups.

He is from Oba, Idemili-South Local Government Area of Anambra State, and attended Central Primary School where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate.

He proceeded to Dennis Memorial Grammar School, Onitsha where he obtained his West Africa Senior School Certificate(WAEC).

In 1998, after completing his primary and secondary school education, Obi Cubana proceeded to the University of Nigeria, Nsukka where he obtained a degree in Political Science.

In 2006, Obi Cubana started his first club, Ibiza Club, Abuja seeking to satisfy fun seekers and nightlife lovers.

Following the remarkable progress he made from the Ibiza Club, he established the Cubana group, a hospitality club that provides all-around entertainment satisfaction in 2009.

Cubana group was first established in Owerri, Imo state capital Nigeria.

Today, Cubana has spread across various states in the country including Lagos, Abuja, and Enugu

Obi Cubana works with close associates including Paschal Okechukwu popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest.

Obi Cubana said to worth over $96 million is married  to Ebele Iyiegbu and blessed with four boys – Alex, Ifeanyi, Ebube, and Kosisochukwu.

He revealed recently that he is working on Cubana Dubai and Cubana Real Estate.
