Don’t Parade Yourself As King In Kingdoms With Recognized Kings – Onyeme

The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, has warned those in the habit of parading themselves as kings where government has recognized traditional rulers to desist from such actions or face sanctions.

Deputy Governor Onyeme gave the warning in Asaba on Thursday when he met with the Obi of Ugbodu Kingdom, Aniocha North Local Government Area, Obi Ayo Isinyemeze and some chiefs from his kingdom.

He said that Ugbodu kingdom has only one recognized king in the person of Obi Ayo Isinyemeze and that no other person should claim to be a King in the Kingdom.

“Ugbodu is one kingdom, and the king of Ugbodu is the Obi of Ugbodu, I want you to go back and amend every other thing you are doing that is against the institution of the Ugbodu Kingdom, the king must be recognized by everybody and he should be accorded deserved respect.

“You must pay homage to the king,” the deputy governor said.

He advised the people of Ugbodu to reconcile their differences within seven days, noting that the issues raised can be resolved amicably to the benefits of the parties.

Present at the meeting were the Commissioner for Information, Dr Ifeanyi Osuoza, Deputy Chief of Staff, Government House, Sir Ifeanyi Osakwe, Executive Assistant to the Governor on Chieftaincy Matters, Chief Patrick Ogelenya, Permanent Secretary, Chieftaincy, Mr Frank Aghara, among others.
