SECRETARY to Delta State Government (SSG), Mr. Chiedu Ebie has called on corporate organizations, groups and wealthy individuals to key into the Delta State Government’s resolve to enhance the socio-economic life of the people by providing social amenities.

According to Ebie, such social amenities that will make life less stressful for the populace should not be left alone for the government to provide.

Making the call during the “lighting of the Niger Bridge“ by the Nigerian Breweries Plc, makers of Life Lager Beer at the premises of the Nigerian Waterways, Onitsha end of the bridge, Ebie, who was represented by the Commissioner for Information in the state, Mr Charles Aniagwu observed that the activities of the Brewery was in line with the urban renewal and city beautification programmes of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s administration.

He added that Nigerian Breweries had beautified the eastern gateway as well as made the link between the South East and Delta State to be more secured, especially for those crossing the bridge at night with the lighting.

Ebie stated that the government of Delta has also, maintained a peaceful atmosphere for businesses to thrive, and established industrial parks where companies and individuals can establish their businesses in line with the Smart Delta agenda.

He used the occasion to reel out such life-changing programmes of Okowa administration to include, Skills Training and Entrepreneurship Programme (STEP) and the Agricultural Entrepreneurs Programme (YAGEP) which have been used to train and equip more than 5, 000 Deltans thereby reducing unemployment, generating more income for the beneficiaries and reducing, to the barest minimum, disenchantment among the citizens of the state.

While commending the management of Nigerian Breweries for living up to their corporate social responsibility by lighting up the Niger Bridge, the SSG urged the company to explore the business friendly atmosphere existing in Delta State to develop a world class brewery to appreciate the many years of patronage and the good relationship between the citizens of the state and the company.

Earlier in an address, the Sales Director, LIFE LAGER BEER, Mr. Uchenna Unigwe stated that lighting up of the Niger Bridge was the company’s way of appreciating Delta and Anambra State governments for providing a peaceful environment that had made the company to do business successfully.

Unigwe noted that the bridge, which was commissioned in 1955, was light up to enhance its aesthetic nature as it serves as gateway to the eastern states.
