Christians have been urged to embody genuine humility, embrace servant leadership, and prioritize sound moral upbringing for children in an increasingly self-centered world.
The call was made on Sunday by Rev. Fr. Benedict Nwabuzor during a Holy Mass celebrated at the Catholic Mass Centre, Maris Schools, Amachai, Okpanam, Oshimili South Local Government Area of Delta State.
The officiating Priest delivered a reflective Homily centered on the transformative power of humility in daily life.
Drawing inspiration from the scriptures, the Priest highlighted Jesus Christ as the ultimate model of humility, noting that His willingness to accept death on the cross remains the supreme example of selflessness.
”Jesus was so humble that He accepted death, even death on a cross,” Rev. Fr. Nwabuzor stated, while also highlighting the vital role of the Blessed Virgin Mary in salvation history.
He said , “without Mary giving birth to Jesus Christ, we would not have been Christians, that is why she is called Blessed; she willingly accepted to be the mother of Jesus Christ by saying, ‘Let your will be done.'”
Reflecting on the practical application of humility in modern society, the Priest emphasized that humility fosters strong community relationships and true leadership.
”Humility matters so much in life, if you are humble, people will love you,” he noted, issuing a direct charge to individuals in positions of authority, saying, “as a leader, you are a servant, humble yourself and serve others.
“Unless you repent and do the right thing at the right time, God will humble you.”
The Homily served as an invitation for deep personal reflection, prompting parishioners to examine their conduct across all spheres of life, including their families, workplaces, and wider communities.
The Priest assured the Christians that adhering to righteousness and timely obedience brings divine alignment, stating, “do the right thing at the right time, and see how things will work out for you.”
Turning to family values, the cleric reminded parents of their sacred duty to guide the next generation, stressing the need for firm discipline and moral instruction.
”Parents should discipline their children, teach them good morals, and instruct them on how to behave; as children, we were disciplined,” he recalled, underscoring that strong moral foundations in the home are essential for a healthy society.
Prayers were offered for families, community leaders, and the nation during the Holy Mass with the Priest calling on all present to carry the virtue of humility into their daily interactions.
