CHAIRMAN of Oshimili South Local Government Council, Asaba, Delta State, Hon. Obi Kelvin Ezenyili has given an assurance that his administration would partner with a non-governmental Organization, Accord for Community Development in their Grassroots developmental programmes for the LGA.

Hon. Ezenyili gave the assurance today, Thursday 4th August, 2022 in his Executive Chambers during an official visit of the agency to the Council Authorities.

He said that the idea of having a comprehensive database for government official activities would engender even development and enable government plan well for other areas not captured earlier for the overall good governance.

He appreciated the Accord for Community Development Agency for supporting the Council through providing human and material resources for good database of Government Community Developmental plans.

Speaking earlier, the leader of the Agency and the Programme Manager, Dr. Chioma Vivienne Nwokoro, said that they were at the Council to present a set of Computer to the Budget, Programme, Research and Statistics Department and to set up an efficient Archival system for Oshimili South LGC in line with the Organization’s Responsive Governance Program, RGP, as well as improving the effectiveness of LGs in delivering development service to their Constituents.

Dr. Nwokoro explained that the Responsive Governance Program RGP, was in its third phase since the commencement in 2014 and now being implemented in 15 LGAs across three States: Delta, Rivers and Imo States.

She said that Accord for Community Development had trained key LG staff that would form the Local Working Group, LWG, which was aimed at building their capacities for the effective management of programmes and Government projects.

She appreciated the Council for partnering with the agency in staff training and other logistics.

Highpoints of the visit were the official presentation of a new computer set and a 5-year Strategic Development Plan, SDP, jointly developed by the key LG staff trained for the programme.

Also at the visit included the Council Vice Chairman, Mrs. Ify Ogbogu, the Legislative Arm, the Secretary to the LG, Mr. Brendan Iyeh, the Supervisors, the Head of Personnel Management, Mrs. Idao Chidinma, Treasurer to the LG, Ngozi Ozor, Heads of Department amongst others.
