Ezewu Urges Students To Embrace Reading Culture

DELTA State Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu, has identified lack of reading culture,  negative influence and dependence on examination malpractice among students as causes of poor performances in any examinations.

Ezewu, who stated this while monitoring the 2021 West African School Certificate Examination (WAEC) in different parts of the state, said that there was need for stakeholders to play their role in sanitising the education system.

While saying that the candidates had sufficient time in preparation for the examination, Mrs. Ezewu admonished them to build a solid foundation for their future through  seriousness in their academic activities.

The Secondary Education Commissioner said that the essence of the monitoring was to ascertain the level of the conduct of the examination across the state.

Ezewu, who expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the examination, wished the candidates success in the examination.

She called on students across the state especially those in public schools to take advantage of Governor Okowa administration’s huge investment in the sector .

The Education Commissioner, recalled that the conducive teaching and learning environment provided by the Okowa led administration had continued to be a reference point.

Similarly, the Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Augustine Ede Oghoro has stressed the need for students to redouble their commitments to their studies in order to reap the benefits in the nearest future.

Oghoro who stated this while monitoring the examination with his team in Delta North Senatorial District, said that the ministry would continue to embark on aggressive monitoring of the various examination.
