The Executive Chairman, FCT Universal Basic Education Board (FCTUBEB) Prof. Abdullahi Mohammed, on Friday in Abuja said the Board was not recruiting teachers for deployment to basic education institutions in the Territory.
He was reacting to a news story in some section of the media which said the Board was recruiting teachers.
He said that the Board has no financial capacity to engage additional teacherseven though it would wish to do so due to gaps created over the years.
He said the need for teachers was on based on the increase in the number of students in FCT primary and junior secondary schools.
He said the Board was determined to ensure that the schools within its jurisdiction have enough quality teachers to enhance learning by pupils.
He therefore implored the public to disregard the story going round about recruitment of teachers by FCT UBEB.
