CHRISTIANS have been tasked to always do the will of God and strive always for their actions to reflect what they profess.

The Parish Priest of Catholic Church of the Ascension, Asaba, Rev. Fr. Hilary Ibegbulem, made the call while delivering a sermon on Sunday.

According to the Priest, Christians should be more interested in the way they live presently than what they were in the past.

He said, “God has given us another privilege to celebrate His goodness in our lives.

“We should always reflect if we are doing the will of God, because the word of God teaches us the importance of doing the will of God and God enjoined us to do His will.

“God has continued to call people to work in His vineyard and He urged us to do His will no matter the situation we find ourselves.

“God is not interested in our lip service; what He is interested in is if we follow what we profess with our lips; He is interested in the way we are living, what we are confessing with our lips.

“What we are confessing with our lips, are following it with actions?

“What matters is action; God wants our action to reflect what we profess, what matters to Him is what we are doing now, not what we did in the past.

“It is not about the righteousness we practiced in the past, it is about what we are doing now and it is very important that we remain steadfast in the word of God, we must strive to continue following God, that is the will of God for us.

“Our repentance is very important to God; He has given us room to continue to seek His face, we should change from our evil ways and do His will.

“We should continue to improve on our christianity, we should continue to be better Christians; the moment we stop repenting from our evil ways, that is when we die spiritually.”

The celebration of the Holy Mass, also featured thanksgiving by the parishioners.
