CATHOLIC Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor, has urged those encouraging greed and corruption to desist from their acts or face the wrath of God.

The Bishop made the call on Sunday in a homily he delivered during his pastoral visit to Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Parish, Nimo, Njikoka Local Government Area, Anambra State.

He observed that greed and corruption are destroying Nigeria.

Bishop Ezeokafor who cited the ongoing forensic audit of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), and the emerging claims that billions of Naira were spent by the NDDC Interim Committee on plastic seats, described such as acts of greed and wickedness.

He emphasised that such acts of greed and wickedness could make one to lose heaven, noting that the amount of money allegedly spent on plastics seats by the leadership of the NDDC was almost the amount which Awka Diocese had utilised in the ongoing Peter University project.

The Bishop regretted that while the poor masses are suffering due to difficulties, people in leadership positions resorted to rob the country and her xtates of public funds that ought to be used for public good.

He flayed government officials and other public office holders over their involvement in what he termed the culture of contract fraud and other corrupt practices, which, according to him, had robbed communities and various regions of Nigeria their needed development.

While pointing out that wisdom and rationality were what differentiated human beings from animals, he prayed God to endow all with the grace to make the right choices in life.

Hd urged Nigerians to desist from selfish lifestyle, but make proper use of their abilities for their own good and that of others.
