MARIS LECTURE 2024: Reactions Trail Announcement Of Chiemeke As Guest Speaker

Few hours after the Maris Trust Council, MTC, announced Prof. Stella Chinye Chiemeke, Vice Chancellor, University of Delta, UNIDEL, Agbor, as the Guest Speaker for the year 2024 edition of Maris Annual Public Service Lecture, people of all walks of life have described her choice as the best for the year.

Secretary, MTC, Comrade Fidelis Egugbo, had on Monday afternoon, announced that Prof. Chiemeke have accepted to be the Guest Speaker at this year’s lecture.

The announcement by Egugbo, who is also, the Senior Special Assistant, Media, to the Governor of Delta State, is eliciting a lot of reactions from the public despite the fact that the topic for discussion at the lecture which holds every Wednesday before Easter Sunday is yet to be known.

Egugbo, assured the public that the topic for discussion would meet with the lecture’s objective of proffering practical solutions to the challenges of the society.

A University Don, Chief Kemi Emina, Ph.D, who has always Moderated the Discussion segment of the lecture simply said, “congratulations, this is a good choice.”

Also, Mr Oscar Nze, said, “I congratulate my church member while we were in Benin in 2005, Prof. Stella Chiemeke, she is good and we look forward to listening to her.”

Mr Steve Nweke of the Protocol Department, Government House, Asaba, said, “the Maris Trust Council, has surprised us again by bringing someone we will be happy to listen to as Guest Speaker at this year’s lecture, this is simply, wonderful and we are happy with the choice of Guest Speaker at this year’s lecture.”

Also, Engr. Sebastian Nwose, a lecturer at the Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, said, “you did not reflect in your story that she did well as the Rector, Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku before she was moved to University of Delta, UNIDEL, Agbor, as Vice Chancellor? We were wondering who will be the first female Guest Speaker at Maris Lectures but you have arrested us once again, just secure our seats as we shall be there at Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba on March 27 to participate as usual at Maris Lecture.”

Prof. Chukwuemeka Ojieh of the Department of History and International Studies, Delta State University, Abraka, said, “to God be the glory, the search for who will deliver this year’s Maris Lecture is over, congratulations!”

Also, a Public Affairs commentator, Mr Fidelis Chimokwu, in his reaction, said, “MTC, made a good choice by getting Prof. Chiemeke as the Guest Speaker at this year’s lecture, but what is the topic for discussion?”

A renowned journalist with the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, Deborah Coker in her reaction, said, “you got a beauty and brain to be the first female Guest Speaker at Maris Lecture, congratulations!”

Miss Maureen Achugbue, a regular face at the annual lecture series and one of those who advocated seriously for a woman to deliver this year’s lecture said, “I love this choice, she is acceptable to us, we thank Maris Trust Council for always getting someone who can do justice to the topic for discussion as Guest Speaker, thank you for getting a woman this time around.”

Also, Comrade Maxwell Momah, former Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Ika Correspondents Chapter, said, “Prof. Chiemeke that we know will do justice to the topic for discussion, with the way you always get successful people in their chosen fields as Guest Speakers, we look forward to knowing those who will be Discussants, Chairman of Occasion, Mother of the Day, Moderator, and others; may God help you to organise another successful lecture in Jesus name. Amen. Once again, congratulations!”

This year’s edition of Maris Annual Public Service Lecture shall hold on Wednesday, March 27, at 12 Noon prompt at Asaba, Delta State.

    Frankly speaking, it will be nice to hear this year’s Guest Speaker, Prof Mrs Chiemeke and I believe she will dwell very Excellently given any topic. A Great Choice indeed.
