The Chairman of Ika South Local Government , Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior, has again assured the people of the area of his unwavering commitment to good governance.
He gave the assurance on Monday, when members of Ika Children in Diaspora, visited him in his office at the local government secretariat at Agbor.
He said he was fully prepared to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people, knowing that his performance would be judged by present and future generations.
“I cannot afford to fail my people who entrusted their mandate to me. I owe them the duty to ensure the resources of the local government are well managed for the good and benefit of all.
“There is no excuse for failure because, if I fail, God forbid I fail, I would have failed the entire youths of Ika South; I would also have disappointed our people who trusted and voted massively for me and the Councillors who are working closely with me, and have been very supportive since we assumed office a few months ago.
“I have always prayed for a time where the youths of Ika South would have the opportunity to be in positions of responsibility to be able to contribute to the growth and development of our society. And having been given the opportunity, I promise not to disappoint our people,” the chairman stated.
He challenged the youths of Ika South to be united in purpose to be able to bring positive change to the local government area, stating that, “there is strength in unity. When we speak with one voice, we will succeed in redefining the trajectory of our local government area.”
On insecurity, the chairman said his administration was collaborating with security agencies and other stakeholders to make the local government area safe for the people.
He also told the visitors that his administstion had put in place measures to ensure that Ika South was kept clean, even as he assured that the state government was committed to completing all ongoing projects in the locality.
Earlier, the Chairman, Ika Children in Diaspora, Comrade Isioma Isoko, said they were in the Chairman’s office to commend him on the giant strides he had made in the few months of being in office.
He noted that the youths of Ika South were proud of the achievements of Engr. Ehiwarior, stressing that it “takes courage and dedication” for a leader to achieve what the chairman had in just a short space of time.
He called on the chairman not to be distracted, as his efforts at making Ika South better than he met it were not going unnoticed.
Isoko thanked the chairman for always identifying with the association, and assured him of their continued support and prayers.
