NADESTU Applauds Ezewu For School Monitoring

National Association of Delta State Students, NADESTU, has called on Deltans to key into the education reform policies of Ministry of Secondary Education, Delta State.

The group made the call during a courtesy visit to the Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs Rose Ezewu.

Speaking on behalf of the association, its President, Comrade Whiska Monday, noted that the body was in the Ministry to congratulate the commissioner on her reappointment and to commend her for the reforms she had brought into the education sector since assumption of office in September, 2023.

Comrade Whiska Monday, emphasized that the nucleus of the policies was the capacity building programme organized for principals and selected teachers in the 498 secondary schools in the state.

According to the group’s leader, the training no doubt, broadened the principals’ administrative skills and built in the teachers, modern teaching technics that were required in this time for effective teaching and learning.

He stated that the capacity building was commendable and reiterated that the knowledge the participants acquired would be transmitted to the students to improve their learning abilities.

Comrade Whiska Monday further commended Mrs Ezewu for the monitoring of schools noting that it would help to curtail teachers absenteeism which he noted, had become a habitual culture amongst school administrators.

Comrade Whiska Monday appealed to the commissioner to carry NADESTU leadership along in the course of implementing education policies that would have positive impact on secondary school students in the state.

He assured her of the readiness of the body to cooperate with her office.

Mrs Rose Ezewu, while responding, thanked the leadership of NADESTU for being abreast with the activities of the ministry which according to the commissioner, were geared towards making principals and their teachers deliver efficiently as required of them in their service rules.

She solicited for the support of the student union in reorienting the minds of secondary school students in the state toward education and the society.

The commissioner assured them of the utmost cooperation of her office.
