The Delta State Governor , Rt Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has said that realignment with the All Progressives Congress (APC) was a bold step towards enhanced collaboration with the Federal Government to deliver the dividends of democracy to Deltans.
Governor Oborevwori stated this on Tuesday during a courtesy visit by the Hajia Imaan Sulaiman – Ibrahim ; Minister for Women Affairs and Social Development at Government House, Asaba.
The Governor who was represented by His Deputy , Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA, said, “It is with great honour and a deep sense of responsibility that I, on behalf of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the Governor of Delta State, warmly welcome you all to our great state, Delta.
“Your presence here today is a testament to the Federal Government’s commitment to fostering inclusive governance, unity, and national progress.
“This visit is not only a significant political moment for Delta State, but also a demonstration of the strengthening bond between the centre and our dear state.
“We are particularly pleased with the Honourable Minister’s efforts in championing the rights and empowerment of women across Nigeria.
“Delta State aligns fully with the national vision of gender inclusion, development, and equity.
“Today, as we formally receive your delegation, we also celebrate a new chapter in the political alignment of Delta State.
“We recognize the symbolism of this moment as Delta State takes its rightful place within the folds of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“This transition is not just a matter of political re-alignment, but a bold step towards enhanced collaboration with the Federal Government to deliver the dividends of democracy to our people.
“We assure the Honourable Minister and indeed the Federal Government of our cooperation and readiness to work collectively for the development of Delta State and Nigeria.”
“he Minister had said that they were in Delta to fulfill some of the electoral promises of President Bola Tinubu.
” I am very happy to be here, the last time I came here was during the Presidential campaign when we came with promises.
“So, I feel so elated to be here to fulfill some of those promises that we made.
“May I use this opportunity to welcome all of you to APC, the largest party in Africa.
“Welcome to the winning train, and with your arrival, we have been stronger and more formidable and we look forward to delivering the mandate to the people of Nigeria.
“I am truly excited, my previous role took me all over the country , but I never came to Delta.
“This is my first time in Delta apart from the campaign period and with what I have seen, no wonder Delta is the Bug Heart of the country, the critical role you play in Nigeria economy,, the landscape; Deltans are very hospitable.
“Let me reaffirm that under the Renewed hope Agenda of His Excellency, Ahmed Tinubu and Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the Governor of Delta State, the woman of this state will not be left behind on the mandate of national development, my Ministry stand prepared to collaborate with Government of Delta State to economically empower women and ensure that the home unit is stronger and our children are developing educationally.
“We are here to officially flag-off the Renewed Hope Women ‘s programme for Delta State which is part of the strategic intervention that we are rolling out across the country to empower our women socially, politically and economically.
“As part of this intervention, we are commencing the distribution of food items and non-food items to vulnerable women to strengthen their economic resilience, most significantly, we are also launching the distribution of solar home powered systems to selected women beneficiaries,” she said.
