The Chairman of Oshimili North Local Government Area, Hon. Innocent Esewezie, has said his administration will embark on landmark projects to immortalize the legacy of the late Senator Peter Nwaoboshi.

Hon. Esewezie made this known while speaking to journalists at the burial ceremony of the former senator held in Ibusa. He described the passing of the former lawmaker as a monumental loss to Oshimili North, Anioma nation, Delta North, and the country at large.

“This is a big loss to the people of Oshimili North Local Government Area, to Anioma nation, to Delta North, and indeed Nigeria. Senator Nwaoboshi was a leader who stood firmly for his people. His legacy of service, courage, and political commitment will continue to inspire us,” the chairman said.

“We will build on the good legacy he left behind. We will emulate the good works he did and ensure that his name remains etched in the history of our local government through meaningful, people-oriented projects,” he added.

Also speaking, the Member representing Oshimili North Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Frank Esenwah, described the late senator as a political pillar whose influence shaped many careers within the district.

Hon. Esenwah said the death of Senator Nwaoboshi was a painful loss to the people of Oshimili North and Delta North as a whole.

“We have lost a mentor, a leader, and a father figure in politics. His guidance and experience were invaluable to many of us in public service. We will continue to uphold the ideals he stood for and ensure that his contributions to our constituency are never forgotten,” he stated.

Ukah Pays Glowing Tribute

Earlier, former Secretary to the Delta State Government and Director General of the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency, Chief Patrick Ukah, paid a glowing tribute to the late senator, describing him as “an iroko in Delta politics.”

“A man whose chosen profession was politics, and in that profession, he did everything you would expect a committed politician to do. Senator Peter Nwaoboshi lived a wonderful and impactful life,” Ukah said.

He noted that the massive turnout at the burial ceremony reflected the deep love and respect the late senator commanded across political divides.

“Delta North has lost a great son. Delta State has lost a great leader. And for us in the political family, we have lost an iroko tree. When he said, ‘I am supporting you,’ he meant it. He never wavered. Once he stood with you, he stood with you,” Ukah added.

The burial ceremony drew prominent political leaders, traditional rulers, associates, and community members, marking a solemn yet celebratory farewell to one of Delta State’s most influential political figures.
